Salaam Alaikum
Well, with the month of Ramadan officially over (may Allah accept our good deeds and allow us to witness many more!), we have the chance once again to reacquaint ourselves with the Book of Allah. Many of us heard it during tarawih, many others read it cover to cover, and those who were blessed by Allah did both!
So, in order to test how well we were paying attention, here’s a short ‘Quran quiz’ involving simple facts that anyone can look up (note: the tajwid questions are based upon the reading of Hafs).
And as part of MM’s goal of increased reader interactivity, the FIRST THREE people to e-mail us the correct response will get Dar-us-Salam gift certificates & Anwar Awlaki audiotapes.
Bismillah, let the games begin: (more…)
so like is shadda counted as two letters or one?
prophets by name!! I wish that was clarified, now we cannot change our answers.
InshaAllah for next time the questions should be crystal clear, because the question in the post does not mention the Prophets have to be mentioned by name.
also the question itself doesnt mention that the prophets have to be mentioned by name. so i think people might get confused there.
Jazakum Allahu khayr. Just further clarification on that question, does it have to be in that order like earth then right after has samaa’/samaawaat? (like al ardha was samaawaat) or can it have words in between. (I don’t want to post any examples but I hope that makes sense).
So, as someone has already asked……. are we waiting for the 100% correct quizzes, until they finally arrive, or are the very close quizzes going to be given any though?
I know, we need to have patience, Wa Allahu Al-Mustaan.
but, if Sheikh you are kind enough to just answer the question to give us an idea for those of us who thought we might have had a chance.
innalhamdolillah. i wish i was so familiar with the Qur’an to attempt this quiz. may Allah reward those with knowledge, and make it’s acquisition and correct use easier for all of us.
speaking of which, shaykh Yasir will be in Houston this November, inshaAllah, teaching Ulumul-Qur’an (Qur’anic Sciences). enroll now!
got excuses? give them a black eye!
Dear Amad, I fixed one of my questions because Sh Yasir may Allah preserve him clarified that the Prophets should be mentioned by name. Can you kindly accept that correction on my part, the question did not state it. Jazak Allah khair.
@ Emad:
Obviously such benefits are not directly related to the meanings of the Quran; but insha Allah the very fact that you had to spend an hour with the Quran, reading dozens and dozens of verses, is itself a great blessing, no? And throughout the centuries, our scholars have given much more precise quizzes than these ones (you should see some of the questions that great scholars have prepared in this vein!), merely to show how precisely and perfectly our religion has been preserved.
@ RestingTraveller
No, just that the phrase ‘earth and heavens’ occurs.
w.r.t. question # 3, my question is sometimes prefixes and suffixes are added to a word, ‘fa’, ‘li’, ‘wa’, possessive pronouns, etc. the longest word we are to find, is it including the prefixes and suffixes or without them?
salam.. people are turning in multiple versions and it is getting tedious.
So, from now on, turn in ONLY one time. Future emails from same person will be disregarded.
